Terms of Service
Last updated October 8, 2026
ChainSongs lets you write a song about someone you care about and send it to them. If it moves them, they can sing one forward to someone else, which is how a Song Chain grows. By using ChainSongs.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who can use ChainSongs
You must be at least 13 years old, and if you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian's permission. You must give us a real email address that you control.
What you give us
You tell us about a person: their name, how you know them, a few sentences, and their email address. You promise that you wrote what you submit (or have the right to use it) and that it is true to the best of your knowledge. A song can be a lovely surprise, so you do not need anyone's permission first.
What you may not do
Do not use ChainSongs to harass, mock, threaten, demean or frighten anyone, to write sexual or hateful content, or to impersonate someone. We may decline to write a song, block an email address, or remove a song or chain at our discretion.
Your song is made with AI
Lyrics are written by an AI language model and the music and singing voice are generated by an AI music service. That means songs can contain surprises, mistakes or lines you would not have chosen, and a similar song could be produced for someone else. We run automatic checks, but we cannot promise any song is perfect. If a song is not right, use the “Something wrong with this song?” link on your song page and we will make a better version.
Who owns the song and how you can use it
Because songs are generated by AI, the law about who owns them is still unsettled. What we promise is this: the writer and the recipient may keep, play, download and share their song for personal, non-commercial purposes, including with family and friends and on personal social media. You may not sell the song, license it, enter it in commercial catalogs, use it in advertising, or upload it to streaming services for revenue without our written permission. We may host and play the song so we can deliver it, show it in its chain if the recipient allows, and keep it as a record.
Payments and refunds
Starting a chain and singing one forward in reply have a free version and a paid personal version. The price is shown before you pay. Payments are handled by Stripe, and we never see or store your card number. The paid song is produced right after payment. If we are unable to produce your song we will refund you or give you a credit. If you are not happy with it, tell us through the link on your song page and we will make an improved version at no extra charge. Because each song is custom made, we generally do not refund a song that was delivered, but write to us at hello@chainsongs.com and we will do the right thing.
Song Chains and “Sing it Forward”
When someone receives a song, they may write one of their own for someone else. Each song is a link in a chain. A song is private to its writer and recipient unless the recipient chooses to make it public. A chain only moves forward. We may limit how many free songs can be made in a day or from one person or domain to prevent abuse.
We do not send songs to people who do not want to receive them. Every notification has a one-click “Don't send me songs” link, and anyone who uses it will not be sent songs again. We send emails only to deliver your song, notify the person a song was written about, send one gentle reminder if it has not been opened, and tell you about replacement versions. We do not send marketing email.
Availability and changes
ChainSongs is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it running, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or error free, and we may change or stop parts of the service. We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept the update.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, ChainSongs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the song in question. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.
