Our promise about email
When you write a song for someone, you give us their email. We use it for one thing: to tell them a song was written about them. If they don't open it, we send one gentle reminder. That's it.
We never put anyone's email on a marketing list, never sell it, and never email people about anything else. Every notification has a one-click “Don't send me songs” link, and anyone who uses it can't be sent songs again.
Songs are private. The person a song is about decides whether it becomes public, and whether their name shows in the chain.
What we collect
- From the person writing a song: first name and last initial, email address, the recipient's name, email address and relationship to you, the sentences and answers you type, and your choices (music style, singer voice).
- From recipients: the choices they make on their song page (for example whether the song is public) and whether and when they opened it.
- Songs we make: the lyrics, title and audio file.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, never your card number.
- Technical data: basic server logs such as IP address and browser type, kept briefly to keep the service running and prevent abuse. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
To write and deliver songs, send the emails described above, process payments, prevent abuse, improve the service, and answer your messages. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who helps us run ChainSongs
We share only what each service needs to do its job: an AI language model provider (to write lyrics from what you typed), an AI music service (to turn lyrics into a recorded song), Stripe (payments), Resend (sending email), and Render (hosting). These providers handle data under their own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep songs and their chain for as long as the service operates so that links keep working. Ask us to delete a song, your email, or a recipient's email and we will, as described below.
Your choices
- Anyone can stop future songs with the “Don't send me songs” link in any email.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you or remove a song or chain by writing to hello@chainsongs.com.
- A recipient can choose whether their song is public and whether their name is shown.
Children
ChainSongs is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
We use secure connections and limit who can access the data, but no online service can promise perfect security.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above.
